Can someone tell me what this is?
There are 3 wires converging into a detachable clip on top of the intake area near throttle body. u can see it int he picture below. does anyone know what this is for and what would happen if it was removed?

Looks like the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor...
you will probably set off the Check Engine Light... may or may not run correctly, poor fuel economy... why would you disconnect it???

Some things that set off the CEL will take a few driving cycles before the CEL clears.
Butafter the CEL goes out,I thinkthe error is still stored for some period of time. Resetyour ECU. That way the MAP sensor error won't be stored to confuse the mechanic when something else goes off.

Year?? I don't recognize it absolutely from the picture.
Any year you can reset it by disconnecting the battery, but then you'll need the stereo security code & reset your clock.
6th-gen ('98-'02), you can pull the #13 fuse in the right-end of the dashboard. That fusebox is near the right-front door hinges. Other years it's located somewhere else, orlabeled as the back-up fuse or something like that.
