I have a 98 Honda accord lx, 4 cylinder vetch. as I was driving it dies and when I tried to restart it is just clicks. it sounds like it's coming from around the starter area. I have checked the cables and battery. any help would be appreciated.

 

Almost certainly bad starter solenoid, but check battery connections first. They should be clean and secure.

If good connections, try "hammering" the starter on/start/on/start to see if solenoid contacts will eventually make enough contact to engage the starter. This will get you by only a short while.

Fix is a new starter or replace solenoid contacts (if they are replaceable).

I am not hijacking this thread but to contribute to it. I once had similar problem like this with my accord 90 one morning like that. All we have to do is to replace the old starter and the solonoid and car starts immediately. Thanks
