Car Fails to Start
Hi Folks,
My 2005 Honda Accord EX refuses to start. Have a master and a valet key. When either key is used the usual icons light up and the green key light blinks twice. Car does not crank at all. When the key is removed, the key light blinks five times. The brake pedal doesn't give- is like a stone; can't shift out of park. Disconnected the battery- reconnected after 20 mins- same results.
HELP!
Thanks
p.s. My first post here. Dont know any thing about car mechanics.

Thank you poorman212 for the response. The problem started all of a sudden. The battery is good (head lights, horn, etc. are all working). I did disconnect, clean the connections and terminal and reconnect. Doesn't the five blinking of the key icon indicate that the key is recognized by the immobilizer? Am wondering if it is an ignition switch or the starter problem - could it be?

The fact the starter is not spinning the engine has me with an electrical issue, could be the electrical part of the ign switch. However it could be other things.......interlock, fuses, ect.
Is this an auto or manual trans?
Do you have a testlight or voltmeter to do some testing?

It is 2005 EX/AT- has 83K miles on the clock.
Do you have a testlight or voltmeter to do some testing? - NO
What fuses should I check?
Thanks.

In the underhood fuse box (assuming 4 cyl here). #23 50 amp fuse feeds the ign switch. Again a voltmeter or test light would be nice to be sure it is ok....you can look thru the clear window on top and "see" if it is blown......I'm almost blind so I can't do that.
Next, there should be a "shift release" on the console....you insert a key into the slot and you should be able to move the shifter. Move the shifter to "N" and try to start. If nothing, slightly push/pull the shifter while trying to start.....
From there, without a test light or voltmeter I'm not sure where to go.
Was there any recent work done to the car?
