P1259 = VTEC system malfunction

Low on oil?
VTEC spool valve clogged with dirty oil?
Look for loose/dirty/corroded connection at VTEC solenoid.

Where are you (1.8 liter isn't a USA engine) and what year car?

F-series engine (up to 2002) have VTEC spool valve bolted on the head & it's got a little 3-bolt flange at the VTEC solenoid. K-series engine (beginning in 2003) is a LOT different.

OK, a Swindon-built Accord is different than a USA Accord, but both should have an F-series engine. So #11 in this picture is the VTEC spool valve assembly. Not sure if you get a VTEC oil pressure switch (#14) or if that's plugged off.

This parts-picture is a bit misleading. The actual position of that spool valve is over towards the other end of the head - closer to the distributor.

Remove that spool valve & clean the gunk out. You'll probably want to get new gasket (#13) because it'll be hardened from age & heat - probably leak if you re-use it.

www dot hondaautomotiveparts dot com
click on PARTS
Go into car year/model because your UK VIN won't work.
try Accord 2000 LX
Cylinder Head for the category.

There's other on-line parts places that use the same pictures. I think they come from Honda's electronic parts catalog.
