I have an 01 accord coupe 4cyl. manual transmission. For a while now I have thought my car is much louder than other accords i have been in and asked many friends if they heard anything and no one really did, mind u combined we knnow as much about carsas a relatively smart monkey, but recently a friend who has some knowledge told me to take it outa 3rd gear when i was actually in 5th going about 65. Thats a good way of describing the noise... it sounds as thoughi was in 3rd gear going 50 miles an hour when im actually going 60 in5th. The puzzling thing to me is when i throw it into neutral thenoise is still there, as present as ever. Which leads me to believe its not the engine. Anybody who can understand what im talking about or knows what is going on, id very much appreciate your input.

 

its possible its your tires. some tires create alot more road noise than others. especially if you were to have say studded snow tires on in the summer, then you would have a lot of noise.

You may want to try dynamatting your car(its a sound deadener that you just peel and stick under the panels of your car).

 

Check for exhaust leaks ..... look for black soot around the joints. You probably just blew a gasket.

 

actually any winter tire will make a loud humming sound, i work at townfair tire lol, we get people all the time vcpmplaing about nosie and winter tires
