car shuts down some times
I have a 1999 Honda Accord, stick shift. I have had this problem for a while now where my car just shuts down.
This usually happens when the engine is cold (it has happened when I have been driving around for a while too). and it always happens when I go from a higher gear (4th or 5th) to neutral. So lets say I am cruising at around 40 mph and I see a stop sign. So I press the clutch and shift the gear from 4th to neutral. As soon as I do this, the engine just stops (all lights light up on the dashboard and the rpm goes to zero)
What would be the reason for this? Like I said it doesnt happen all the time but it does happen often enough for me to be worried.....
Thanks,

Does it do it if you don't shift to neutral on decel? If you just coast down in gear foot on the clutch does it do it?
I would clean the throttle body. Those accords are prone to gumming the throttle body with a thick carbon goo. I don't know if that will fix anything but sometimes they can act a little strange when they are gummy. To clean it you take off the rubber boot (1 screw style hose clamp). ENGINE OFF open the throttle and use a clean rag with carb/throttle cleaner to wipe the inside of the bore of the throttle body.
