Default '99 EX V6 Shuts down...no power

1999 Honda Accord EX V6 ~75,000 miles

My wife's car broke down. Here's what happens. I can start it. It runs for a minute or two...then it starts to lose power...kinda like it is choking. I try to give it gas, but that doesn't help. The gauges and lights dim or go out The engine stops. Then I can't restart until the next day...with the same results.

New fuel pump; battery is pretty new.

I am a COMPLETE novice...just looking for any direction you might be able to provide. I really appreciate anyone's feedback.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the response, deserthonda.

Don't know how to check codes. No lights stay on at all...everything dies.

Today, I checked the battery...11.97 volts. Then I started the car. It started successfully, ran for literally 2 seconds and died. I checked the battery after that at 7.38 volts.

Not sure what else to check...
