Check engine light on, after motor installation
I am trying to trouble-shoot a 1996 Honda accord standard 2.2 engine. The engine was replace with a salvage yard motor which I believe was a 1994 motor because the car runs fine but the engine light stays on. Somw one suggested that the distiributer has to upgrade to a 1996 in order to fix the problem. any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks]

Sounds like an ECU issue...New motor installed and old ECU still in the car.
Check to see if the year and engine were compatable with the old engine.
