Default Check engine/Maintenance Req'd and Vibrating

Hello,

I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX 2 door coupe 4 cylinder vtec engine. Recently, the check engine light and maintenance req'd lights have come on. On top of that, my car vibrates and shakes when I apply the brakes (new brakes/rotors in front--rear brakes could use replacing soon) and it doesn't matter how fast I am going, this is always the case. Any suggestions? I am not too car savvy so I appreciate any information..........thanks!

go to autozone and have them read the trouble codes then post them here.

As for the vibration: did you bed the brakes when you had them done? If it hasn't been very long I'd go back to the shop that did the work and have them inspected for manufacturing defects.

I will go to autozone and then post the codes they give me.

As for the shaking, the brakes are newER, I should have mentioned that. Less than 7 months ago I had them changed at a shop.....they replaced the rotors and the pads. I'll go back to them and see what they can say about mfg defects.....I appreciate the info.

you can also jack up the car a bit so the tire is free spinning, then spin it by hand and see if it "slows or catches" at any one point, that's a good indication of a warped rotor.
