I follow the instructions in the book and the fluid shows just at the very bottom of the hash marks. Engine hot, turn off ,wait one minute , check in 30 seconds. But the reading is in the middle of hash when cold overnight.

I go to the dealer the car is setting ten minutes it shows middle of hash they say fine . I said you didn't do like the book they say fine .

This is confusing, what is the story ?

 

If that's what the owner's manual says, that's what I would do. I doubt you could measure the difference. There may be a little draindown from trans to reservoir by waiting. Try both ways and see if you can detect any difference.

Either way I would want the level near full w/ engine hot.
