Cigarette Lighter
1995 Honda Accord EX V6
I am not a smoker so only use the cigarette for my cell phone but now I have a portable GPS system that I plug in there. I notice the GPS plug sometimes moved loose and the connection to the GPS stopped if I hit a bump so on checking I see the ligheter fixture is loose. Is it possible to tighten this up ...so to speak.. or do I have to take it to a shop?

RE: Cigarette Lighter
I have a 2000 and mine is loose also. I had opened my center console while doing some stereo installtion and didn't realize I didn't tighten it up. So if yours is like mine you should be able to tighten it.

RE: Cigarette Lighter
You might need to tighten it or you might need to replace it. A lot of cell phone power plugs are slightly larger than the opening in cigarette lighters so that over time they then to spread them out. not a problem if you are only using the one device but when you try to use the lighter or another device like you GPS then you disover that the plug is now too wide spread to securely hold it. First see if it is loose side to side or just the whole assemble is loose front to back. If teh latter you can just tighten the nut on the back of the plug, if the former then you'll need a replacement plug.
