Unhappy Clicking after axle replaced

I replaced the half-axle on the passenger side of my 1999 accord today. I took it for a test drive and after about 1 mile I started hearing a clicking noise from the passenger side. The noise increases in frequency as I increase the speed of the vehicle. Braking has no affect on the noise. I am sure I tightened everything and that the axle is fully seated in the transmission. Any ideas?

Does it change when you steer? Try driving slowly in an empty parking lot. Straight, then turn each way. Does the steering change the sound?

Was it a NEW shaft? What brand? Some brands can be unreliable, but unfortunately I don't know who's bad & who's good. Except for actual Honda being good...

Do check the tie rod play.I had a similar noise and it turned out to be the inner tie rod worn out. They can be mistaken for a shaft noise.

I would make sure the axle is still fully seated in the trans.

Yeah, I've seen posts from someone who drove around for a couple weeks before his axle fell out of the trans.

Thanks for all the replies.

Turns out it was just the outermost metal clip on the outer CV boot that was rubbing on the steering spindle (whoever crimped it left a large bulge). I filed the crimp bulge down and it's good to go!

Watch that thing. Might have been better to hammer it down, instead of removing metal. If it breaks, you'll want to catch it before dirt gets inside the boot.
