Default Clutch not disengaging. Symptoms are weird and I am stumped.

This issue came out of the blue. My clutch is not completely disengaging and I am not able to shift gears without terrible grinding. If I pry the clutch fork with a crowbar I am able to shift through my gears easily, so I think the issue is with the hydraulics rather than the clutch itself? I put in a new slave cylinder cuz I had one but it didn't make a difference. Here is some relevant information.

1. The clutch pedal does not feel as stiff as it usually does
2. The slave cylinder rod is extending the clutch fork about an inch. Maybe less.
3. When the clutch pedal is pressed I only need to pry the clutch fork a tad further to get it to shift.
4. Fluid levels are all good and I've found no signs of external leakage.
5. I bled through the slave cylinder bleed valve after replacing it. I think I bled it fine, there was no air bubbles coming out when I finished. Did a classic 2 person clutch bleed.
6. I've owned this car about a year. The lady I bought it from told me she had a new clutch put in a couple years back. I assumed she meant the clutch and not any of the hydraulic pieces?

I would think that maybe there is an issue with the clutch master cylinder causing insufficient pressure to the slave cylinder to push on the fork. But I've read a whole myriad of other more obscure issues giving the same symptoms so I'm not sure. Hoping someone wiser and more experienced than me might have an idea of what's going on.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Was/is the clutch fluid black/very dark? This may help:

Yeah the fluid was pretty dirty but I did flushed it out when I replaced the slave cylinder.

The clutch hydraulics are pretty simple. Since the slave cylinder is new, I'd replace/rebuild the master cylinder.

+1.

But first make sure there is no air in the system. In some of the hydraulic systems it is tricky to get all the air out.
