Unhappy Code 9 TDC Sensor

I am hoping someone can help me here. Just replaced the distributor on my 91 Accord with an aftermarket one - had a good mechanic do it. Recently I am getting a code 9 error when pulling the code. Local Honda dealer told me I have to replace the whole distributor for 460 dollars because the TDC sensor is inside the distributor. Is that correct?
Thanks
Montana Tom

It is if the sensor is the problem which is doubtful since you've replaced the distributor once.

More likely a defective ECU. Measure sensor resistance at the ECU/Harness connector and if resistances are good, then ECU is the fault.

Used ECU's are fairly easy to find. See current post on the forum about failed ECU.

good luck
