Default Colorado Road Trip from Texas

Hey guys I am in need of suggestions, advice, and tips please. I am planning to drive from Dallas, TX to Denver, CO. This will be a 13 hour drive there and back. I will be driving around the state a bit for some good adventure and hiking. The total trip was estimated to be about 2500 miles over the span of 4 nights. The drive there and back I will do 12 hours non stop except for gas (I did this last year).

What I would like to know is if you guys think my car can make it no problem? I am not super car tech, so I am worry about something happening in the middle of the road. Please let me know if I should drive non stop like that? If its bad for my car? What typically goes wrong in a lost distance drive?

My car condition: 174k miles. I do oil change every 3k miles. It has never broken down on me yet (bought the car at 100k miles) except for the transmission gave me a lot of problems until i got it rebuild. It seems to runs good and solid. I drive to my University 4 days a week 1 hours each way no problem for the past year.

-Tran rebuilt at 136k miles
- Cap and rotor at 136k miles
- New radiator at 137k miles
- Timing belt, tensioner, water-pump and 3 seals that typically come with that kit was done at 172k miles.
-exhaust gasket - 140k miles
- spark plugs at 136k miles
-Thermostat at 127k miles

Any advice and tips is gladly taken. Any suggestion on car maintenance prior to trip will be taken!

Sounds like the car is well taken care of. I would just make sure to check for any low or leaking fluids, or unfamiliar noises leading up to the trip.

It is actually better for a car to stay running than it is to start and stop.

I did the similar long distance thing with a 239,000 mile '92 Accord last month.
Worked fine; I'd just check rad coolant level and oil level each morning. Sounds fun.

I don't see any info on brake pad condition. You will need good brakes and plenty of pad to manage mountains. Suggest an inspection of brake pads.

good luck

As another member said above, just keep checking all fluid levels and your tire pressure every time you stop for a gas up, all should stay good that way.

Have a Safe and enjoyable trip.
