Coolant Temperature Sensor
Idle on my 94Ex will occasionally exhibit cycling behavior on cold days when idle is 1500-2000 rpm on startup.
What I think happens is the ECM sees idle above target, and attempts to reduce idle but undershoots target and idle drops well below target. Cycle repeats when ECM attempts to hit increased idle. It probably requires everything to be in very good condition to get a stable idle on a cold (<50F) day. As car ages, everything is slightly off (dirty throttle plate, slow IACV, etc) and unstable idle occurs. Slow IACV may be principal culprit as it must oscillate from open/close rapidly to admit required air. Any "stickiness" would cause problems.
See my profile for location details.
good luck
