Default Cracked block experience?

I blew a radiator hose and the mechanics said I have tranny fluid in the coolant.

they pressure tested the radiator and it's supposedly good

they said the only other option is a cracked block....

anyone with direct experience of this?

thanks fellas

Smells like BS.

Tranny fluid in the coolant? Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I don't think ANY Accord has ever had an integrated tranny cooler in the radiator. That's the only way I can think of the fluid mixing.

Highly doubt it's a cracked block or head also.

Take it to a different (read: reputable) and get a second opinion.

Can they explain how tranny fluid can get through a cracked block into the coolant? If it was a cracked block why isn't it engine-oil in there?

The radiator is the only place where tranny fluid gets together with coolant.

OK, you're wrong.
It's only on an auto-trans, but the tranny-fluid hoses go out to the bottom of the radiator. There's a metal tube inside the lower tank where the ATF goes across the width of the bottom tank. #11, 12, 13, 14 are the ATF hoses.

thanks guys---just talked to the wrench and he says it's engine oil NOT tranny oil

I would have sworn he said tran but it's engine oil

says they've checked all seals and gaskets and there is no other option--your thoughts?

Then yes it can be a cracked block. It can also be a bad headgasket, but maybe he ruled that out by doing a leakdown test? I'm not sure how you would decide between a cracked block vs a cracked cylinder head?

i would be really shocked if it truly turns out to be a cracked block..

i would more likely suspect a head gasket or a warped or cracked head , way, way before a cracked block

how did they determine that it is a cracked block ??
if they insist that it is the block,, I would have a second opinion form a shop that specializes on Hondas or the dealer

they said they ran all the head and gasket tests they could

I also told them I was going to sell the car if it was the block so they don't have an incentive to screw me.

thanks fellas
