Crankshaft pulley Removal without air tools

I need to remove a crankshaft pulley bolt from a 1984 Accord at the junkyard so I can get the crankshaft pulley and the timing belt covers. I have used a pry bar with my socket and I can't get the motor to stop turning over so it won't come off. They only have automatics there or I guess I could just put the car in 1st gear and that would stop it?? I don't have access to a cordless impact wrench so I was wondering if there was someway I could freeze the motor up so I could remove this bolt with my big breaker bar. I have heard with motocross bikes they drop rope down the spark plug hole to stop the piston but it doesn't seem like this will work on a 4 cylinder car?? This is a junkyard so I remove the head or ruin what ever to get the motor to lock up. Also I have no access to air at my house and my car is an auto as well so how can I hold the motor at my house to tighten the bolt to proper specs which I think is 83 foot punds?. Do they make a strap type wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley and if so were would I get it?
Thanks
Thanks
