Default Crankshaft Pulley removal

94 Honda Accord VTEC EX, AT

Trying to remove the bolt on the crankshaft pulley. In the past on another car I've removed the starter, locked the flywheel and used a large breaker bar. I REALLY don't want to pull that starter out since I just put it in and on this car it's buried. With my Craftsman impact wrench and propane torch it didn't budge. How much torque does the impact wrench need to have? I'm guessing mine is probably a cheaper 400lb job. Or any other recommendations?

There is a special tool to hold the crank pulley that you can purchase.

The other option is to take it to a garage to break the bolt loose with their impact wrench, then tighten it back down.

my 550ft/lb impact wrench hasn't been able to get some off.

I resolved this by getting a breaker bar with a 10 foot pipe on it. That pipe is the best investment I have ever made lol. Saved a lot of bloody knuckles and aggravation.

But even with the pipe there were a few crank pulley bolts where I had to jump on the pipe to break it free.

Ended up buying the tool on ebay for $30. Best money I ever spent. What a cinch. Why didn't I do this the last 3 times?
