Default crankshaft rotation

quassu77,2004 honda accord ,automatic,4 cylinder,2.4

Please help me learn how to turn my crankshaft- to determine if I have engine seizure. What size socket do I need? Is clockwise the direction of rotation as I look at a clock hands rotation? Maybe, I have to turn the crankshaft in a ccw direction Thanks

I think it's a 17mm socket in the center of the crankshaft pulley (maybe 19?).

Turn it clockwise for your engine 2004 4-cyl (K-series).

Why do you think it's seized? Will the starter not crank it? Have you ruled out a bad battery, bad starter, bad cables?

After I took starter motor out I was able to turn the crankshaft by hand using the airconditionig pulley. All pulleys rotated in syn with this action. I also saw the ring gear rotating. I did it also in the ccw direction a slight amount just to see if it was possible. I took a gamble, but am definitely satisfied the engine was not in seizure.

Maybe the starter pinion was not retracting?? That's supposed to pull back away from the flywheel after you release the key from the START position.

I'd only turn it clockwise. Now that you've turned it CCW, get a socket on the crankshaft pulley & turn it forwards at least a bit.
