Crankshaft sensors
'96 Accord EX VTEC automatic: Swapping engines and have a quandry. Engine that came out of the car has two sensors behind the crankshaft pulley. Engine that I purchased to replace this bad engine has no way of bolting these sensors on. Will not installing these sensors cause problems? Are these a type of crankshaft positioning sensors? Engine will operate fine without them installed? Am I in a world of hurt? Thanks
Old engine: F22BI, 3416157, and above the "USA POA-15", B5828281072P. Purchased engine: F22B, 3056221, and above the "USA PTO-10", 5A1116461I.
If the sensors are on the distributer on the purchased engine, A.) I did not recieve the distributer with the purchased engine, B.) Will the electrical harness directly attach? C.) If not, where do I find the proper wioring harness?
I am in a world of hurt, aren't I? Thanks

I am having similar problem with 95 2litre [see earlier entry]. You need to check diagnostic codes.Bad news is that the sensor is part of the distributor so the whole unit has to be replaced. There's a nice way to start New Year !
According to the person I purchased the engine from, I need to swap oil pumps because the mounting holes are on the oil pump. My inexperience working on Honda engines, I guess. Oil pumps are in the crankcase in American Iron.
Thanks
Thanks
The oil pump looks like it is an SOB to change, for the Honda repair newbie? Is there anything I need to know about the oil pump swap, any Gotchya's? Any good advice on finishing the engine swap? Pulled engine alone without auto tranny. Should be ready to put back in after today. Replaced all gaskets, inc. head gasket, belts, tensioners, water pump, etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated, especially from people who have done this before. Like I said previously, up until this engine swap, I have only worked on American Iron. Thanks
I haven't done this, so I won't be much help.
Your old engine was F22B1 (not "I"). First digit 3in theserial # indicates it's the 3rd year for that engine.
Your 'new' engine is nota USA engine, since it's just F22B.
The details of those sensors changes from time to time, & also changes depending on the country of the engine. That's why it's often better to use all the sensors off your old engine, along with your original ECU.
