I think P0700 is general transmission fault. It is always there when a trans code is set. If you get the OBD1 code you'll get a 70 which is shown with all the OBD2 trans codes. If your TCU is reporting a code, it's probably OK, IMO.

See definition of P1773 for Honda. It may be an electrical faulty in solenoid B. http://www.aboutautomobile.com/dtc/P1773

good luck

Just remebered one more thing, had this problem with a car i worked on, it turned out to be the main fuel relay under the left side of the dash board, i found out that a voltage goes from that realy to the tcu , they are inecpensive from honda, the honda parts place told me they sell about 8 a month, this thing can make your car do some weird things. on the car we worked on we had to replace the pigtail that is attached to the relay because of poor solder joints, after that no more trouble, worth some thought anyway, this will sometimes cause start up problems as well but not always

I've been calling around looking for this unit with no success...Honda tells me that the tcu is an all in one unit with the ecm...They also told me if i got a used unit it would need to be flashed from them because its a single unit called a pcm...Anyone know if this is true?

I used to have a 98 and YES the engine & tranny controllers are together in a unit that Honda calls a PCU (powertrain control unit). I dont know why it would need to be flashed...

I guess it would be a different unit fornon-VTEC vs VTEC vs ULEV-VTEC engine. Plusyou would have to be careful about compatibility if you try to use one from a 1999-2002 car.

Jim,

is the PCU a complete, all-in-one-box unit? If so, sorry to the OP for confusing you, 1997 and older have and ECU and TCU that are completely separate units with their own wiring harnesses.
