Default dash brake light lights when brakes are pressed

i have a 2002 accord v6 coupe 124k miles
the brakes do not make any noise but just this morning when i depress the brakes the brake light on the dash lit up for a few seconds?? anyone had this problem? do you think there is a problem with my car/brakes?? any help is appreciated. I will have to take off work to take my car to the shop if needed, plus the expense of a repair.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like it may just be low fluid, check your brake fluid level

The warning lamp for the handbrake will also light up for low brake fluid. There's a float switch in the reservoir.

But there's a different warning lamp for 'brake lights'. That one's supposed to go off when a brakelight bulb is burned out. Sometimes it's too sensitive & it light up when one socket is corroded or dirty, even though the bulb still works.

SO.... which warning lamp is it?
