I recently received my first car and the oil pressure light and the battery light would turn on before the car was on. On idle where the lights and radio are functional they would appear. Once i turn on the engine and drive both lights vanish, is this normal or is it pointing to a problem?

That should be normal. If there was a battery problem, your car would have trouble or probably wouldnt start. Also if the oil goes too low, it should appear while driving.

 

Bulb check

 

Do either of the lights (oil or battery) come on when the engine is actually running at idle? That would not be normal.
