Dashboard/windshield glare

Dashboard/windshield glare
I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX, and in most regards it's a great car.
But it's the worst car I've ever owned as far as daytime visibility through the windshield is concerned.
The reflection from the dashboard on the windshield is so distracting at times that I can't take it anymore. Driving towards a high sun makes it almost impossible to see through the glare. I fear that I'll mow down some pedestrian because I just didn"t see them.
I don't use glossy protectants like Armor All for fear of worsening the situation.
Does anyone else have this problem?
And if so, does anyone know of an inexpensive, somewhat asthetically pleasing solution?
Any ideas short of tearing out the dashboard and painting it flat black are greatly appreciated...

RE: Dashboard/windshield glare
I stay away from spraying the dash down with anything.
1. Use glass/surface cleaner on the dash, should make it flatter.
2. Buy a dash rug (lol)
I've never really had a huge issue with it. I've seen a lot worse in other cars.
