Dead battery and e-Parking brake
Greetings all. I have a 2.0T manual Sport. The battery has died, but I can't push start it because the parking brake won't unset? Anyone with any tips? I did some surfing with no success. I did find many people stating that the parking brake will remain as is in the event of the battery dying, BUT I think that I had left it unset???
Other e parking brake irritations is this stupid set-up where the brake must be set before starting the car. WHY??? If Honda wants to nanny us, then they should prevent the car from being turned OFF without the brake being set. What possible good is it to require it to be set before starting? If the brake was not set, and you have returned to the car to start it, then obviously the brake did not need to be set!

2018. Also, here is an update: after charging all night, the car had enough juice to release the brake, although still would not start. However, was able to perform a push start. After a 6 minute drive, all is well. But why the dead battery? I MAY have left the car in accessory mode by mistake, BUT does it not have battery run down protection, like nearly every car since 2010?
I don't think the accords have that kind of protection at least up to 2011. Not sure about the 2018.
You'll have to investigate why the battery drained. If the car is running and fully charged, you can stop by a parts store and have them test the battery/alternator/starting system. Could be as simple as a bad battery, or a parasitic draw that slowly drains the battery.

It is very likely that the battery is the one from the factory, hence definitely near the end of its life. Still, I am surprised at the sudden failure, and the lack of run down protection. Also, this experience makes me hate, the already hated e-parking brake and forced engagement, all the more.

Battery life is typically 4-5 years. You should verify the battery is bad. You want the same size/form-factor of battery so it fits in the tray and bolts in correctly. A battery manufacturing plant makes batteries for different labels.
I've used an interstate battery from Costco for my TSX that has served me well (until it fails). You can price out the Honda battery to see if it worth the extra expense.
You can dig into the weeds on Youtube to see if a certain battery has a better/long-lasting design. I've gone with name brands without too many issues. They also typically have a warranty that helps if they fail prematurely.
