Default Defrost

My air mode motor is turning. I can switch modes and watch the white wheels turn and rods move. But it will not blow air thru the defrost. I am pretty sure a rod is supposed to push on a lever to open a flap way up near the dash. Is it possible the flap linkage is broke in an area I can't see? How do u make the dash flap go to an open position manually?

Can you help remind us what kind of car you have?

The 98 and newer ones have a "self test" of the HVAC - you could look up the procedure and see if any error codes show up on the HVAC unit.

01 accord. Motor seems to turn fine. So I would not expect to see any code. You set it to defrost and motor turns linkage but I can hear a pop sound in dash area which sounds like a flap is trying to open but does not. I assume you need to remove dash to find which flaps actually move during operation and see how they move.

I took off motor. Now I can turn plastic wheels to open/close flaps. Air blows out defrost just fine. Now, to figure out why motor turns ok but rod does not push on wheel to open defrost vent. Can they make it any harder to reach this area? I have no idea how you reach white plastic arms to move vents.
