Default Difficutly Shifting

Hey, I really could use some advice on my clutch on a '90 Accord LX?

It started only a couple days ago when I tried to shift in reverse and it was nearly impossible. It was exactly like trying to shift without the clutch engaged. Occassionally, this happens in first and you pump the clutch a couple of times and it goes smoothly but nothing worked as I struggled to shift. The problem only exists when it hasn't been running for a few hours. Once I drive it for a little while it seems to get easier to shift. I don't know if the clutch is getting immediate and proper lubrication or what. Any advice? and does this sound like a serious issue as in having to replace the clutch?

Does '90 have a cable or hydraulic clutch. If it's hydraulic, try bleeding it.

mmm well you could have a leak at the master, the slave, or there is a little hose that goes over the transmission that goes bad every 100k or so. could be that.

Another symptom might be the pedal staying on the floor. If the clutch pedal stays on the floor and you have to pull it up or it is REALLY slow coming up, there is probably a problem with the hydraulic system.

if you need to replace the clutch master or slave cylinder,, go to our DIY section,, there is a write up on How to...

hey once again thanks for all the advice, it turns out there WAS air in the line all it took was about fifteen minutes pumping the clutch in and out getting that pesky air out, everything is a-ok, im gonna take it to the shop just to make sure there aren't any small leaks in the line
