Default Dim headlights, how to get more out of them?

So my headlights on my 94 accord are really really dim. They almost look like I taped flashlights to my hood. I get about 10 feet of visibility. However when I turn my brights on they are super bright. It's a brand new battery so that's not the problem.

Could I get more light, but not blind people if I took the little chrome/plastic cover off of infront of the bulb itself? I even used headlight repair kits to get rid of the slight hazyness that the covers had.

Thanks,
Rich

Do the lights have that slight red orange color which could be a ground? I have a 95 Accord and went with the brightest ones the local auto parts had and it made a big difference, but they don’t last as long as the originals.

Yeah I went and bought the $50 set of lights they had at autozone that are supposed to be the "best". Didn't do much for me, but I also found out that I can adjust the vertical and horizontal direction of the light beams, gonna try that out and see if I can't get a little more visibility out of them.

Does the plastic on your headlights have a yellow hazy look, or are they still clear?

@PAhonda

Nah they're crisp and clear used a headlight restoration kit on them after I bought the headlights to make sure they were as clear as they could be.

Then it really sounds like electrical problem. Bad contacts, bad grounds, dirty sockets, stuff like that can result in low voltage to the headlight bulbs. Keep looking for that kind of problem.
