Question Disconnect sport mode completly??

i have a 1991 honda accord lx sedan. Had problems where it would go into sports mode by itself. Had it checked out and the computer is being replaced. My question is. Since i will never drive the care in sports mode can i have it completly disabled by mechanic(cut wires) and still have the car function completly normal?
also what causes the computer to go bad like this?? Age? Or could it be something else that is causing it?
thank-you for any and all help with this .

....age, connections with high resistance, bad wires and a few more things cause the TCM go "go bad".

Your transmission is not going into sports mode.

That is how the honda transmission computer warns you of a problem. I think the S light flashes when there is a problem.

Thank-you for quick response. I had the tcm replaced and did have the wires to sport mode disconnected. The mechanic showed me the burnt out areas.
Have a peaceful evening
