Default dizzy swap

I have 2 identical 92 honda accords. One of them quit running and when I took the dizzy out of the one that runs and put it in the one that didnt it fired right up.So I went down to the junkyard got another dizzy and put it in the car that was running it wont start and on top of that the check engine light comes on and stays on.Needless to say im puzzled and am contemplating my next move.Anybody out there got any ideas? Thanks

2 things, on the one that went bad is that car running bosch plugs? Also, the new dizzy have you tested the coil/ignitor in that car? Wires connected in the right order?

For the car that was running, get the code that was stored by having the check engine light on. You just have to short the service connector with a paperclip (follow these instructions http://www.dhost.info/accordinfo/howto/cel.html). That might pinpoint the problem with the junkyard distributor.

As for the car that originally broke down, did you verify that you had no spark?

What about putting the original distributor back into the car that used to run. It sounds like you simply got a bad distributor from the junkyard.

Getting the code from the car that currently is not running won't hurt anything. You might have a bad dizzy from the junkyard.
