Default f23 hitachi 4 wire dizzy, convert to obd1?

f23 hitachi 4 wire dizzy, convert to obd1?

Anybody do this? or have a wiring diagram for the F23 dizzy?

I put an F23 from a 99 Accord into a 94 Civic chassis. Like to try and use the F23 factory dizzy if possible.

Thanks for any and all help.

Between 94 & 99 Honda really changed the engine timing-sensor scheme.

There used to be CKP, CYP, and TDC sensors all 3 were in the distributor. Together they timed the engine so the ECU could fire the spark and injectors.

Later they moved the CKP and TDC sensors down to the crankshaft pulley. But not only that, they changed the pulse-modulation of all sensors, so their signal "looks" different as well. So you'll want to use the F23 PCM which is OBD-2. I'm not aware of any OBD-1 ECU that uses the "older" form of the timing signals.

Hmm, we got the engine to run using a basic d15 dizzy but had to build a bracket to hold it in place (no tabs lined up at all). Vtec works as well. but it's a crazy ghetto setup. That's why I'd like it to work with the f23 dizzy on obd1.

I think this means the car is obd1, harness obd1, dizzy obd1, 1999 F23 engine. So the dizzy is content and making good decisions with the input it's taking from the f23.

To be honest, I was just going to make a jumper harness for the F23 dizzy and give it a try. splitting the extra wires on the obd1 engine harness on down to the sensors on the crank pulley and give it a go. Although you mention different pulse-modulation with the sensor signal. To be honest, if that's accurate, you wouldn't expect that to work.

I'm starting to be of the opinion that maybe this dizzy, D4T92-04, is our best hope at a fit. For 94-97 accord, internal coil. But I don't know yet if it's going to read the crank signals.

some pics of how it's setup now with the d15b7 dizzy. Runs and works this way, vtec works, all is well. Although it took us a while and a lot of shenanigans to get it mounted, as you can see. Timing is right on the money.

I'd like to use the factory 4 wire dizzy to keep it all the same and easier to repair "later".
