Default do i need a new starter?

Ok so when i go to crank it it will act like the battery is dead and just slow down untill it doesn't crank. But then if i try to crank it again it wil crank once then do it again. Then it won't crank, last time it did it i let it sit for about an hour and a half and came back and it started right up. Is it my starter or starter solonoid?

Have you tested the battery/alternator to make sure it's okay first? If so then I would assume based on what you said that it's a starter or selenoid. It really doesn't matter which one it is because it's one unit. You can get them tested for free at most auto places so I would test your battery first (test it under a cranking load as well) and make sure it's okay and then if it is go ahead and pull out the starter and take it in

yo Fiero.. first off, pleae input the year and model,,,,,,,,
As adviced by mr nasty you need to test the battery and charging system, also, make sure all the battery connections are tight and clean,( pos and neg wiring )
if not , replace or repair accordingly..

does it make a clicking noise when it won't start ?? ,

Ok i'ts an 88 accord Dx And i haven't tested the charging system. But my Battery connections are tight and clean. I actually cleaned it just a couple days ago. When it tries to start it just sounds like the battery is dead it just tries to crank real slow then doesn't anymore. But if i wait a couple minutes it will have a little more cranking power. And if i wait about an out i can get a couple good cranks before it does it.

the first thing you need to do my friend , is to make sure that the battery is fully charged ,, and that it can hold a charge,, I would hate for you to replace the starter and find out it was the battery all along,
So have the battery properly tested ..

Ok thanks thats the first thing i'll do

HAVE it tested at your AutoZone or Advance store for FREE.
They will test your Battery, Starter and Alternator to see what is the matter
