Default starting issue... new alternator AND starter... any ideas?

hey all, i bought this 95 accord as is and it had starting problems. i pulled the alternator and had it checked. i replaced it cuz it was dead. than i had the starter checked, that was also gone so i replaced that. but before i did the starter, it would start 90% of the time and then it would act like the starter was bad so i changed it. now all the car does is click... with a new starter alternator and terminals? im stuck and have no ideas although i cant lie the wires to the starter are saturated in oil from a valve gasket leak. any ideas?

Can you measure the voltage at the starter, both cables. Also have you had the battery tested, if alt was bad it had to run the bat down...they don't last too long going thru cycles like that.

Thumbs up

thanks poorman, i was off the internet for for a minute. i appreciate the input. i disconnected the alt and brought it to get tested. the outcome was a very low voltage rating, a bad alternator. i did the same wit the starter and that was bad too, had to change both u know? some new terminals and that babys purrin now. NOW... i gotta check engine light after installing a cold air intake, its always something! im tryna find a cheap way to get my codes scanned, autozone only does it for 96s and up... mine had to be a 95, jeez... thanks again and if u just so happened to be familiar with the o2's and where the are, any MORE input would be even more appreciated.

95 & earlier is EASY to check codes. All you need is a paperclip. Look for instructions somewhere in the DIY section.
