Default e brake not holding

i'm sort of a noob, so if i misscommunicate what a certain term is i apologies ahead of time. I have an 01 accord ex 5sp coupe and recently changed my rear brakes but have discovered a problem. my e brake does not hold on hills. i've pulled apart my center console and tightened my e brake line but noticed that the brake lines to the lever are uneven. not sure if this is a problem...

anyhow, i tried that and it has not fixed my problem. Please please please let me know what else i can try.

thanks ahead of time,
joe

Did you replace the rear calipers?

If you did or even didn't, I would check the parking brake cable connection to the calipers. Maybe you knocked it off when doing the brakes? Also have someone pull the e-brake and see if there is any movement in the arm of the caliper the e-brake is attached to.

You would have had to twist the rear caliper pistons in to make room for the new pads, right? That's the handbrake auto-adjust mechanism. Twist too far & the handbrake is loose. You can go back & twist the pistons back out a bit to take up the slack, or you can operate the brakes like 200 times to allow the auto-adjust mechanism to take up the slack.

That would make sense as i did twist them all the way in. Thank you for the input! :-)
