if the alternator was fried, will it cause the engine idle to surge it runs fine for about a minute then it will start to surge.i unhooked the battery and the engine cut right off and it kinda smelt like the alternator was fried. i recently posted problems i had yesterday and got some good answers. my sisters car is a 2000 honda accord 3.0 l v6

The cut-off when you disconnected the battery points to a dead alternator. Bring the car to an auto parts store/service center and have them test the charging system to know for sure.

how about the surge in idle, would that be part of the alternator being dead?
