electrical issues
1999 accord coupe 2 door 4 cyc

ok i have checked all the fuses on side panel and under the hood. all relays seem good also. under the steering wheel the connections are all made. butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt:confu sed:
my rear parking lights stay on, no brake lights at all. front parking lights come on only when i turn them on. also with the head lights. turn signals work fine front and rear.
i have to pull the mini 10 amp fuse to keep them off so it does not run the battery down...
suggestions????

For the rear, they don't call them parking lights. Are you referring to the side marker staying on (see attached pic. of side marker)? I am trying to confirm the info. to try to figure out where the problem may lie if the brake lights also don't work, and whether they are related or separate issues.
In addition for the brake lights, have you checked any of the brake light bulbs?

1. For the brake lights, check the No. 46 (20A) fuse located in the under-hood fuse box.
2. If fuse is good, on the left side of the trunk is the 12-P grey C554 connector. Look at the wiring there to see if there is something causing a short. If you don't see anything obvious, disconnect the C554 connector and test a few wire pins on the connector side from from the fuse box side.

- With the brake pedal depressed, touch the black lead of the voltmeter to chassis/body ground, then touch the red lead to pin 7 of the connector for the Blk/Wht wire. Is there power/voltage coming to the brake lights?
- With the combination light switch at the steering column switched off, touch the black lead of the voltmeter to chassis/body ground, then touch the red lead to pin 6 for the Red/Blk. If working properly, should not be any power/voltage. Do the same at pin 8 (Red/Blk). If there is power at the pin 6 and/or 8 at the Red/Blk wire, there is probably a short somewhere, may possibly be at this C554 connector and causing the rear markers to stay on.
