I drive a 2006 Honda Accord EX V6. This morning I drove in to work about 30 minutes. While sitting in the parking lot with the car running the engine started knocking really severely so I turned the engine off. I tried cranking again and it started, but continued knocking and then just died. I let it sit for a minute and tried again, it knocked while turning over, but then seemed to run like normal. I will try starting the car again on my lunch break to see what happens. What would cause this?

1. I filled up the gas tank yesterday evening.
2. I have a failing power steering pump.
3. I am due for an oil change.

Do you regularly check the oil level?

The oil-life monitor calculates its % based on all your driving habits, but there it no measurement of how much oil is in the pan.

 

No, I don't check the oil level regularly. :-/
