Default Engine light 2004 Accord

I just had my 30K service for my 2004 Honda Accord. A week later my engine light came on. I usually make sure my gas cap is on tightly. Is there any connection to the service

Check the DIY for the CEL codes.. Or you can go to AutoZone and get it read for free.

Also, I'd personally take it to the dealer and tell them exactly what you told us... Ask them exactly what they did and see if that would have any affect on what the CEL is regarding.

I'm not sure. They said they had to send for a part out of state so I imagine they replaced the harness. Is that what you think they should have done...just curious.

didn't they tell you what part they had to order???

,, i live in AZ and we have a lot of pac-rats that like to get under the hood and chew wiring but it is very unlikely that they have to replace the whole wiring harness < i have seen a lot of pac-rats damage and we had to repair a lot of wiring but never had to replace the complete harness ,, most likely the rodents chewed up a wire too close to a component for the wiring to be repaired and they have to replace that component ..But having said so,, you should find out what you are going to pay for ..

however, according to honda, the recommended repair procedure is to replace the affected harness. personally, i'd just repair the wire or two, making sure it is a lasting repair, and let it go. i hate harnesses...heh

it would cost a lot of extra unnecessary money for the customer to replace the harness and we try to save our customers money .. again ,as long as the repair is a long lasting one or at least till the next pac-rats attack

yeah, i hear ya. it's just such a pain in the *** to fight with harnesses sometimes, especially if it's an underdash one.
i've had clients actually open up rat poison and d-con and emtpy it all over the engine and trans!![sm=shootshoot.gif]
