Engine misfire in 2005 Accord EX V6
Engine misfire in 2005 Accord EX V6.
The place I went to had a really detailed diagnostic code interpretation.
P0301 (cyl#1 misfire)
P0305 (cyl#5 misfire)
Then he said two other things, the misfire occurred during high heat and 100 mph full throttle acceleration.
He was right. I covered 620 miles in one day the week before. I got the check engine light reset and it hasn't come back on with city driving.
I had some misfire codes with my 2002 Accord EX L4 and I put in a set of Accel coils and platinum plugs. After that, the car could floorboard up to 110 mph and the only thing holding me back was the wind deflector at the leading edge of the sunroof would start lifting off.
I have tried to find Accel coils for my 2005 Accord EX V6, but apparently Accel isn't pursuing the coil-over-plug replacement market for the Honda 3.0L V6. The coil and plug-lead tune-up kit From The Accord Store (T.A.S.) for 99-02 Accord EX V6 3.0L V6 doesn't look like the OEM coil-over-plug set up for the 2005 Accord EX 3.0L V6.
Has anybody found a good solid aftermarket ignition and coils set-up for the 2005 Accord EX 3.0L V6.

The diagnostic codes didn't go into blaming the plugs or the coils; only that that the misfires are triggered by heat and high revs.
The Haynes manual has a spark plug diagnostic chart that indicates misfiring at high speed and hard acceleration means the plugs are operating outside their heat range.
I found out from the previous owner that I have 80000 miles on OEM plugs, and from other threads here, it seems NGK IZFR6K11 Iridium plugs aren't that good.
Spark plug heat ranges are counterintuitive in that misfiring from overheating means you need a colder plug (?) with a higher middle number. NGK BKR7EIX-11 seems to be the next coldest plug. Has anybody else taken this step? How does it work?
