Default Engine misfiring - 02 Accord 4cyl

Hello. Yesterday I replaced the distributor cap and rotor, as well as the spark plugs and wires on my 2002 Honda Accord 4cyl. I started it up after putting in the new parts and immediately noticed something was off. It started up, but after initially turning over, began misfiring. CEL came on and flashed, indicating as such. I could also smell gas - another clue.

I am sure I used the right plugs (NGK Iridium) and everything. I then tried reinstalling the old parts, as they had at least been usable before, but the misfire remained. I'm kind of worried now. I've tried a few different configurations, like old distributor cap and rotor with new plugs and wires, but nothing seems to change. I'm out of ideas. Nothing is leaking and it still starts. Did I just wreck my engine? Maybe damaged my catalytic convertor?

Check the spark plug wires. On the cylinder head, facing the front of the engine, it is 4-3-2-1. On distributor, see attached pic.

Wow, how embarrassing. I must have copied down the distributor order incorrectly, and had two cylinders swapped. I even double-checked when writing them down. Guess I need to triple-check next time.

I appreciate the help!

Good to hear things are okay now.

We've all been there in some shape or form.
