Default engine rebuild or replace engine

Hello

I am planning on doing some work on my Accord (96 4cyl 350k miles). Nothing is wrong with the engine it runs good no leaks or anything (well maintained and all records from prev two owners). But because the milliage I am planning on either a engine rebuild or replacement. Heres my questions

1) Should I rebuild it or replace it?

2) If replace should I go Vtec?

thanks!

Mike

I wouldn't do either; I'd drive her till she drops.

X2, since nothing is wrong with the engine.

X3. There is no need to rebuild an engine that is running properly. Just keep up with the proper maintenance. Clean the EGR ports. Drive the engine until you run into problems.

I'm with Redbull & Shipo but no harm in keeping an eye on Craig's List for a good deal on an lower-mileage F22B1 from a '96 or '97. You'll need to do some simple wiring and get a P0H ECU. Someone parting out a wrecked car is your best bet.

Since one guy in Maine drove his 1 million miles and continues to still drive it, I wouldn't be worried about the engine.

Shortly after I invested over two grand into my 2003 Accord EX coupe it was totaled and I learned it was a bad investment. I had that car since new. If I had to do it over i would have just invested in what it took to keep it safe.
