Default Engine shuts off while driving.

I have a 2000 Accord Ex V6 automatic with 120k. Just last week, the engine shut off while driving at 60 mph on the highway. I was able to coast to shoulder and restart it. It happened again about a week later. Has anyone else had this happen? I took it to my mechanic, they couldn't repro or find anything wrong. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Will the car stall out by shaking the key while the engine is running?

Also call your local dealership and find out it your car had the ignition switch recall done on it. It may or may not be eligible, but it can't hurt to find out.

If the dash lights (Alt, Oil Pressure, Check Engine) go off when the engine stops, then ignition switch assy is highly likely.

good luck

Thanks for the responses PAHonda and TexasHonda. I'll try shaking the key to see if it stalls out. The next time the engine dies I'll try to remember the engine lights situation.
