Default erratic and hard shift in gear 1 to 2 on accelerating repaired

hello friends, I was in this forum previously that my auto transmission bangs in shifting from gear 1 to 2 on accelerating in accord 98. We discover that the problem were comin from a device labeled A2. When we replaced the faulty one the transmission shift smoothly and there was no banging. I am happy now that the whole auto transmission need not to be replaced or rebuilt. Is this devices electrically related causing the rough shift and banging?. Accord mileage 208,000. 4cylinders.

Apparently, these valves modulate the pressure to the hydraulic clutch packs to control shift quality.

That's my interpretation from shop manual language. Unfortunately, I can't copy text from the pdf manual due to restriction of the copy function.

Were there any screens w/ debris blocking them? Did you check the solenoids to see if they move under 12V application?

good luck

actually one of the 2 pins attached to it were demaged, i think that's what makes it to be faulty. The accord runs great now with less fuel consumption. What other maintenance do you think i should carry out on this car of high mileage? Can i be changing the ATF every since 6months. I use the car 3 days in week because i have another accord 90 i am using regularly. Honda are great cars. Thanks for all your response

Regular change of ATF is important, but 6 months is a bit too frequent IMO. I would suggest every 30K miles or 3 yrs. However, earlier won't hurt anything.

good luck
