Default Fast Idle

I have a 84 accord with a carb. Where is the fast idle screw? As soon as I start it, it goes to 2000 rpm (cold). Thanks Alan

before messing with the carb, check for vaccum leaks as those will cause the car to idle high or loop. on a lot of carbs the idle adjustment screw is on the front or side

it is normal for a carb car to idle faster when you first start it,, it is supposed to , the colder it is , and depending on the fast idle set up idle it could go as high as 2900 rpm,,

the adjustment for the fast idle screw is on the back of the carb,,

But let me ask you a question ,, as car warms up, does the idle begin to drop ?? and eventually engine will rerach normal idle ( 750-800 rpm ) ?? If so, it is a perfectly normal operation ......
If idle stay up at 2000 after engine is warm, than there are issues,,

To the reply form YEU,, on carb cars if there is a vacc leak it will make the engine run rough and not raise the idle like the fuel injected cars ..

There is no vaccume leak, when I put my hand over the carb it darn near sucks my hand down. Plus the idle cuts out, it does not pick up than die out. It does go down to about 500rpm when it warms up. This is my first non american car. so I was not sure about the rpms. Al

if you put your hand over the carb the car will die .. ,,once warm 500 rpm is too low .. idle when warm should be 750-800 rpm,, adjust idle speed from the black **** on the back of carb... ,,,,,,,,
