fast repeated clicking, no start
its a early 90's accord 4 cyl 5 speed with a ton of miles on it. was handed down to me as a gas saver as my dd is a 4x4 v8 dodge dakota. as soon as i got my hands on it it has been having trouble. it doesnt like to start when its hot ( i have read up on this and know how to fix it) but i have now run into another problem. Car would not start before, just one click. assuming bad battery i got a new one. now when i try to start it i get a fast paced repeated clicking. getting frustrated with this car, please help guys.
thanks
dan

Sounds like a starter problem.
Check that your battery cables are on the battery terminals clean and tight. Use a 10mm socket to tighten them down and not a 10mm boxed end wrench. Also check that the connections on the starter are clean and tight.
Have someone hold the key in the start position and hit the end of the starter with the handle of a screw driver. If the car starts up, then the starter solenoid and contacts should be replaced.

Yep, I'd check all the connections, and caveman test the solenoid contacts too.
However, I've also seen a bad starter motor winding cause this problem.
The contacts hit and put power to the motor winding, then the bad winding drags the voltage down to the point the solenoid falls out, and the cycle repeats, at the speed of electrons.
If the car starts when smacking the solenoid, I'd just replace the contacts .....they are pretty cheap, and easy to replace

ill be around since ill be putting tons of miles on this car. got around 100 miles out of 1/4 tank, its weird, i would have been through atleast 1/2 with the truck. be nice to save some gas and keep miles off the truck. there are a ton of little things with the car that i would like to fix as i have time and will be asking lots of questions.
