Finally DONE, for now!
I have spent the better part of my summer reviving my Accord. Started out smelling gas one day. Seems living in the rust belt took its' tole on the gas tank and it developed a leak at the seam. While trying to nurse the car until I got the new part and had the time to fix the rear brake line lets go! Now add brake lines to the list of things needed. Looking at the lines it's determined that replacing both is the best thing to do as they both look bad. Remove the plastic cover to replace lines and find the main gas line in trouble.
At this point I figure with 170k miles I probably should replace the struts as they are original equipment. OHIO rust belt strikes again! Checking out the struts I find the entire engine cradle rusted on the right side. Order a used on from Phoenix AZ. Get things disassembled and can't get the lines off the steering rack. Soak the lines in PB Blaster for 3 days and still, with a line wrench, round off the head of the lines. Rusted solid! Now order new rack and all the lines. Figure tie rod end should go with everything else.
Get all things installed, including entire new exhaust, and take car for mandatory alignment. FINALLY done, except the mechanic doing the alignment notices the brakes are getting a bit thin. Figure those can wait for a couple of weeks as they really aren't that bad but yes they will need attention.
Any bets on what, after brakes, is next??

Check out Harbor freight for one of their 6" dual action polishers. Item #69924 using a 20% off coupon and finding on special, cost around $45. Has variable speed and Velcro on pads. Pads cot $5 each. Could do my car in about an hour after bathing it. Sure beat doing it by hand!
