Default First really cold day here, clutch coming up slow.

Hello again, its been a little while now. Today marks the coldest day we have had here in new jersey for quite a while. (I am sure it is even worse elsewhere). After getting the car started the clutch pedal came up in about 1-1.5 seconds sticking somewhere which felt to be about in the middle. This is the first time this has ever happened. I started attempting to drive and I was thinking about dropping off work and going to a mechanic but I was not sure they were open so I just went ahead and drove anyway. (heh). In any case I guess that was the right choice because a little while after the engine finished warning up the clutch seemed to return at back to normal.

Is this something I need to get fixed right away? What is the first repair I should make to attempt to stop this from repeating?

Thanks.

My first thought is how long has it been since bleeding your brakes & clutch, to get fresh fluid in there?

Brake fluid absorbs moisture, lowering the boiling point and raising the freezing point. Get some water in there and maybe?? the fluid is getting just a bit slushy.

First thing I'd do is bleed fresh fluid into there. Don't forget to do the same for your brakes...

Mine did the same thing this past week. I think the fluid gets thick in the cold weather(we had -20's degree weather here). I always warm my car up at least 15 minutes before I go anywhere when it's cold. After warming up my pedal went back to normal. I plan on changing/flushing all my fluids when warm weather gets here but I think when it gets that cold the fluids are going to thicken up no matter what. I suggest letting your car run before driving it.
