Default Footwell lights installation

I wanted to buy a LED light stick and connect it below the steering wheel so it'd light up when the doors are open. But I was having troubleopening the casin under the steering wheel. Also, I'm supposed to connect it to the chassis ground and switched power sources. I'm not quite sure what those mean. If anyone can help me, thank you.

Default RE: Footwell lights installation

most columns come apart very similar you will have about 4 screws holding the two plastic pieces together then you will have 2-3 screws that hold it to the actuall column then you should be able to just pull it apart becareful as if your car is older the plastic may be brittle. as for the chassis ground and switched power that just means you need to ground the lights to a good ground the steering column should have a bolt you can ground to and you have to find the wire that turns on the dome light and splice into it. But here is where it will get sticky most cars use a swithced ground to turn on the dome light you will have to find out if your honda uses a posative switch or negative. if it is negative then you will hook the ground wire of your leds to the switched ground wire and then hook up the power to the interior lights fuse.
