Default front suspension knock

Hey

Just bought a 92 accord, 2.2 efi 4 speed auto, it is mint, very low kms, it has a knock from the front end. It feels as though it is coming up the steering column, it is not bad at all, may be a worn bush somewhere. Have just replaced two front tyres that where down to the wire on the insides, this could bebecause ofthe fault or it could just be that the tracking was out. Any suggestions. Are the steering columns designed to collapse in an accident? Used to be a mechanic in the late 70's, and old ford cortinas used to do that, and it feels just like that.

First impressions, I really like the car and it drives great, and is in immac condition, could be a keeper!!

Regards

Andy

Yep I'm from England, emmigrated to Oz about 20 months ago.

I havn't even looked at the car yet, I thought it may be a problem that was common, not having owned one before. Obviously not, I will have to get underneath and have a look!

The inside tire wear defenitly suggests a suspension issue of some sort (since there is no adjustment for it). Has the car been lowered?

Yeah sounds like too much camber in the front.

also, when is the knock prevalent? Is it while driving? can you sit still and turn the wheel and feel it?

i wonder if it might be a cv joint as well?

I've only replaced it on my old-*** VW ('84 Rabbit), but it was a PITA to get the old joints out iirc

My knock was a control arm strut rod bushing...the one that runs up under the radiator.....whole bushing and nut had come off....and pretty common on these years of the accord
